We are done a little early from our planned itinerary for #Life reasons but wow what an amazing trip.
After leaving Mountain Crossing we dispersed camped a couple of nights and also hit some gnarly hills including Blue Mountain.
I mentioned the creepy abandoned tent. That night, we had some bear visitors. Nothing like waking up to footsteps and sniffing around your tent.
I was just thinking about how we hadn’t seen a single bear yet.
They ran away pretty quick after we turned on our headlamps and yelled at them.
But I didn’t sleep much after that.
The next day was some strenuous uphilling. That little hill from Tesnatee Gap can get bent. It killed me.
On night #6, we set up camp in the pouring rain and I do not recommend it. We have to try and do that better with how to get the rain fly and poles up before the tent because it was really wet inside.
We got more bear visitors that night too! Again they ran away pretty quickly once we woke up and hollered at them.
On the last day coming up to Blue Mountain, we ran into No Fear Bear.
He was big and took his time. He did not respond to the yelling and noise we were making. He stared us down and eventually we gave him space so he moved on.
Every bear I’ve run into in NC has always run away pretty quick but this guy was mean mugging us.
If he had come to our camp at night, he would likely not have run away with yelling and lights.
I’m very proud of our little journey through the woods. We learned a lot about our gear on this extended trip and I really need to step up the insect repellent because I look pretty eaten up.
We now have plans to come back and do sections on extended weekends as we make our way from GA to NC to TN. It’s going to be amazing.
The woods are calling and I must go!!
